المغول

يطلق هذا اللقب على كل من يتكلم اللغة المغولية بما فيهم شعب الكالميك الموجودون بشرق أوروبا.

بداية ظهور الاسم بشكل رسمي بدأ من عهد أسرة تانج الصينية في القرن الثامن ولكن الظهور الفعلي بدأ يطفو للسطح في القرن الحادي عشر في خلال حكم الكاثاي, كانوا في البداية قبائل صغيرة ومتناثرة حول نهر اونون ما بين روسيا ومنغوليا حاليا، توحدت معظم قبائل المغول والترك في القرن الثالث عشر تحت مظلة حكم جنكيز خان. لم يتم تحديد أصل اللغة المنغولية بالضبط، فبعض علماء اللسان يرجعها إلى انها تطورت من مجموعة التانغوسية التي هي جزء من الطاي والبعض يرجحها إلى تأثير اللغة السيبيرية القديمة.

يتوزع المنغول حاليا ما بين منغوليا والصين (منغوليا الداخلية) وروسيا وآسيا الوسطى ويوجد منهم أقليات بأفغانستان كالهازارا (أقلية شيعية حول مزار الشريف ويوجد منهم أيضا في إيران) والمغول (اقلية موجودة حول هيرات) والإيماك.
