الدرر في اختصار المغازي والسير

هذا كتاب اختصر فيه مصنفه ذكر مبعث النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم وابتداء نبوته، وأول أمره في رسالته ومغازيه وسيرته فيها، فذكر مولده، وحاله في نشأته، وعيونا من أخباره في صدر كتابي في الصحابة، فأفرد هذا الكتاب لسائر خبره في مبعثه وأوقاته صلى الله عليه وسلم، وقد اختصر ذلك من كتاب موسى بْن عقبة، وكتاب ابن إسحاق رواية ابن هشام وغيره، وربما ذكر فيه خبرا ليس منهما، والنسق كله على ما رسمه ابن إسحاق، فذكر مَغَازِيَهُ وسيره على التقريب والاختصار، والاقتصار على العيون من ذلك دون الحشو والتخليط.
