هذا الكتاب من أهم المعاجم اللغوية القديمة التي تهتم بالألفاظ العربية وبلاغتها؛ فقد ذكر فيه المصنف المجازات اللغوية والمزايا الأدبية وتعبيرات البلغاء، وقد رتب مواد الكتاب ترتيبًا ألفبائيًّا على حسب حروف المعجم. وتتمثل طريقة عرض المؤلف للكتاب في أنه يشرح الكلمة في العربية، مُطعمًا الشرحَ بالقرآن والأحاديث النبوية، وبالأشعار والأمثال العربية، ثم يذكر الاستعمالات المجازية للكلمة المشروحة. This book of the most important ancient language dictionaries that are interested on words in Arabic and eloquent; it was stated the seeded linguistic metaphors and literary features and expressions rhetoricians, it has arranged the book materials alphabetical order according to the letters lexicon. The view of the author of the book is that it explains the word in Arabic, restaurant explain the Koran and the hadith, and Arabic for poetry and proverbs, and then mentions uses metaphors of the word described.
