East Bengal's education, economy was lagging behind in all respects. After the partition of Bengal, this situation changed a bit, especially for education. After the dissolution of the partition of Bengal, local Muslim leaders in Dhaka promised to establish a university in Dhaka on February 2, 1912, in view of the demand of Nawab Sir Salimullah of Dhaka, Nawab Syed Nawab Ali Chowdhury of Dhanbari, Sher-e-Bangla AK Fazlul Huq, and British Emperor Lord Hardinge of the then British India.
