نبذة تاريخية عن جامعة الجزائر.
في المجتمع الجزائري المتطور تمثل جامعة الجزائر حصنا عتيدا وقلعة راسخة للعلم والمعرفة بالإضافة إلى مهمتها في تكوين الموظفين والأساتذة و الكوادر والباحثين في كل مجالات التنمية.
لقد تم إنشاء جامعة الجزائر سنة 1909 (قانون 30 ديسمبر) بعد سلسلة من الخطوات التي كانت بدايتها قانون 20 ديسمبر 1879 الذي تولى إنشاء أربعة مدارس مختصة هي:
مدرسة الطب والصيدلة، مدرسة العلوم، مدرسة الآداب والعلوم الإنسانية، مدرسة الحقوق.
عرفت هذه الجامعة في الفترة الاستعمارية تطورات نوعية وهيكلية متنوعة ومتعددة لكنها كانت تصب كلها في خدمة الأهداف الاستعمارية.
بعد الاستقلال تمثلت مهمتها في التكوين وتخريج الإطارات التي كانت البلاد في حاجة إليها، وعرفت خلال هذه المرحلة أيضا العديد من التحولات التنظيمية والهيكلية. وهي تشكل اليوم قطبا من أقطاب العلوم والمعرفة في الجزائر.
