Unity: Collaborate & Download

Unity is a collaborative downloading app which helps you to download media files (or any other file) quickly with the help of your friends or co-located peers with the same app. Unity speeds up downloads as multiple devices download parts of the file separately via their own mobile network and also is data friendly. The devices then collaborate amongst themselves to reconstruct the whole file back and in the end, each collaborating device receives the entire file. It uses WiFi Hotspot to enable local communication amongst the devices while the devices download their individual parts using their own data connection (2G/3G).
It works for all Android phones with v2.3 and above.

*Please note that this app needs a working mobile data connection on each of the collaborating devices.*

3. We have seen that certain HTC devices have a power saving mode turned on for the Wifi Hotspot by default. If you are using a HTC device as the hotspot device, we would request you to go to the "Portable Wi-Fi hotspot settings" and press the options menu button on your device and select "Advanced" if a menu pops up. On the next screen please turn the "Power mode" to "Always on". This is just a one time setting needed on the hotspot device. **
