The 2023 Tour de France Grand Depart will be a big one as it takes place in cycling heartland, the Basque Country on the Spanish side of the border. This is an area with a rich cycling tradition and super passionate supporters.

The race kicks off on July 1 and finishes on July 23. As is tradition, the Tour de France will finish in Paris.

Specific info on each stage and more detailed maps are also usually published online each May and in the official race program. We'll post links to it when it's released.

The Grand Départ will be the second to take place in the autonomous region of the Basque Country after Saint-Sébastien’s in 1992 and the 25th to be held abroad.
After three stages on the western side of the Pyrenees, the rest of the Tour will take place in France. It will visit 6 regions and 23 departments.

The race will visit all five of France’s mountain massifs. They are, in the order they occur, the Pyrenees, the Massif Central, the Jura, the Alps and the Vosges.
There are three new climbs: the Côte de Vivero (Basque Country), the Col de la Croix Rosier (Massif Central) and the Col du Feu (Alps).
The Puy de Dôme, which hasn’t appeared on the Tour route since 1988, will be making an eagerlyawaited return after its 35-year absence.
This is your comprehensive team-by-team guide of all 22 teams and 176 riders competing in the 2023 Tour de France, which starts in Bilbao on Saturday, July 1.

All 18 WorldTour teams and the two best-ranked ProTeams, Lotto Dstny and TotalEnergies, are automatically invited. Race organisers ASO also gave wildcard entries to Israel-Premier Tech and Uno-X.

Budgets, calibre of riders and pre-race goals vary immensely. UAE-Team Emirates, led by their superstar Tadej Pogačar, are squarely focused on Tour de France glory.

The 2023 Tour de France will be the 110th edition of the Tour de France. It will start in Bilbao, Spain on 1 July and end with the final stage at Champs-Élysées, Paris on 23 July.

22 teams are scheduled to take part in the race. All 18 UCI WorldTeams have been automatically invited. They were joined by 4 UCI ProTeams - the two highest placed UCI ProTeams in 2022 (Lotto - Dstny and Team TotalEnergies), along with Uno-X Pro Cycling Team and Israel - Premier Tech who were selected by Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO), the organisers of the Tour. The teams were announced on 4 January 2023.

In January 2022, Amaury Sport Organisation announced that the Basque Country in Spain would host the Grand Départ, with the first stage in Bilbao.[3] It was the second time that the Basque Country hosted the Tour's start, following the 1992 edition.[4] In October 2022, the full route was announced by Christian Prudhomme.[1] The Tour will return to the Puy de Dôme for the first time since 1988, and only 22 kilometres (14 mi) of time trials are on the route - the shortest amount since the 2015 edition

The 2023 Tour de France is generally expected to be a two-way fight between defending champion Jonas Vingegaard (Team Jumbo - Visma) and two-time winner Tadej Pogačar (UAE Team Emirates). Both had finished in first and second place respectively the year before, with the positions reversed in 2021
