In 2020, the last of the world’s oil reserves ran out, leading to war and mass starvation. Five years and five billion deaths later, mankind attempts to begin anew, devoting its remaining resources to fusion energy. The challenge: Helium-3 is required to forge a stable reaction and the isotope only exists on our moon and Jupiter’s ocean moon -- Europa.
Meet Robert “Ike” Eisenbraun, a scientist for the Space Energy Agency (S.E.A.). The inventor of ABE -- an Amalgamate Biological Enhancement bio-chip hard-wired into his brain, Ike is tasked with designing G.O.L.E.M., a super computer that will oversee Helium-3 mining operations on the moon. When G.O.L.E.M. determines the moon’s He-3 is unstable, the artificial intelligence jumpstarts a manned mission to Europa. The computer selects six men and six women who report to Antarctica for a 45-day training mission beneath the Ross Ice Shelf aboard Oceanus, an underwater habitat. Ike is added to the crew to determine if the computer has gone rogue. The mission concludes with a 30-day cryogenic freeze; the crew forcing a fearful Ike into his pod.
Ike awakens...lost and confused. Power is out, his cryogenic pod is smashed, and Oceanus is minutes from collapsing into a sea trench. Ike manages to escape to the surface only the ice is gone, the world changed dramatically. Giant waves carry his raft to an alien shoreline populated by nightmarish creatures. Skyscraper-size waves chase him across a beach where he finds himself trapped at the base of a cliff. With the deadly tidal surge rushing in, Ike must free-climb. Right now!!!
