The Story of The Cosmonauts

Forming in late 2007, The Cosmonauts started as the brain-child of guitarist William Heimbichner and drummer Charles William Hess. The duo soon realized that trying to blend psychedelic pop and heavy metal was a horrible idea and moved on to bigger and better things, leaving behind a sitar and two ridiculous heads of hair.

After inviting singer Alex Giddings and bassist Alex Davie to join, the 4-piece ensemble quickly found mutual inspiration in The Who and The Rolling Stones. However, there was still something missing.

In 2008, they made a fateful journey to San Francisco to purchase a synthesizer. Then, in 2009, they asked Casey Roepke to play that synthesizer and began writing in a power pop style influenced by The Cars and Duran Duran...

...and then they became super heroes.

Since then, the band has come to develop the sound that defines them; and the members' musical synthesis produces a unique combination of voices and instrumentation with influences across genres and eras with a fresh sound unlike any other! The Atomic Fist brings to the table his dynamite lead vocals, with influences in classic and 80's rock. The Hellion writes and performs technical, energizing lead guitar riffs with intricate solos that provide the intensity in The Cosmonauts' driving sound. Red Lightning brings the melodic low end of the sound, with walking bass lines and driving accents. Gibraltar plays the beat for this superhuman sound, with an equally superhuman presence in his on-stage theatrics! Captain Neptune cuts the air with his dynamic synthesizer parts, and lights the air with his stage hype and antics.
