The flag of Thailand is the civil flag, state flag, the merchant flag and State flag of the Kingdom of Thailand. Adopted on 28 September 1917 by decree of King Rama VI, the current version of the Thai flag has three colors in five horizontal bands (his Thai name is ธง ไตรรงค์, Thong Trairong, meaning tricolor): red for the nation, white for faith and purity of Theravada Buddhism and finally blue for the monarchy. The blue color of Rama VI replaces the red central band of the previous flag, perhaps to remind the commitment of Siam in the First World War alongside France and Britain.
Once found, the white elephant, symbol of the Chakri dynasty, no longer figure on the flag of its navy.
