El atropellamiento de fauna es una problemática real que amenaza la fauna silvestre alrededor del mundo, y Colombia no es la excepción. Por ejemplo, se tienen evidencias que documentan que más del 50% de la diversidad de mamíferos del sector suroriental del Valle de Aburrá, en Antioquia, muere por colisiones con automóviles (Delgado-V. 2007: Actualidades Biológicas 89, 229-233; Delgado-V. 2014: Revista EIA 11: 145-151), lo cual puede llevar a la desaparición local de muchas especies. Las colisiones se presentan no sólo en las calles de las ciudades, sino también en las carreteras rurales y en aquellas que cruzan áreas naturales, tanto en vías asfaltadas como destapadas. A pesar de ocurrir a lo largo y ancho de la infraestructura vial de Colombia, este problema es ignorado por muchos.

 Qué es TAyRA y para qué sirve?

TAyRA, sigla que significa: Transporte, Animales y Registro de Atropellamientos, es una iniciativa independiente que busca que cualquier persona pueda implicarse en la conservación de la biodiversidad local a través de una aplicación para dispositivos móviles, gratuita y al alcance de todos. La persona podrá aportar datos de animales usando, cruzando o habitando en inmediaciones de las vías, por tanto, no sólo son importantes los registros de aquellos animales que encuentre muertos sino también los que observe vivos.

Cada registro de mamífero, ave, anfibio, reptil o insecto que recibimos a través de esta aplicación es una posibilidad de entender por qué ocurren los atropellamientos de fauna silvestre en las carreteras y una oportunidad de documentar, por ejemplo, cuáles especies son las más afectadas, dónde se presenta la mayor cantidad de atropellamientos y cuándo ocurren con mayor frecuencia. De esta manera, podemos proponer conjuntamente medidas eficaces para mitigar la problemática, educar y sensibilizar respecto a nuestra relación con la biodiversidad y los impactos que tenemos sobre la vida silvestre y soñar con la utópica situación de eliminar por completo estos incidentes de las carreteras.

Origen

TAyRA, es una idea que nace en las carreteras del Valle de Aburrá, al vivenciar la triste realidad del atropellamiento de animales en las vías, y por nuestro deseo de involucrarnos activamente en aportar soluciones para mitigar y eliminar los riesgos que enfrenta la fauna silvestre en las vías de áreas urbanas, periurbanas y rurales. Sin embargo, la aplicación no está circunscrita geográficamente a este territorio y por lo tanto, serán bienvenidos los registros de cualquier lugar del país, el departamento e incluso el mundo.

Each record of mammal, bird, amphibian, reptile or insect that receive through this application is a possibility to understand why the collisions occur wildlife on roads and an opportunity to document, for example, which species are most affected where the largest number of collisions is presented and when they occur more frequently. In this way, we can jointly propose effective measures to mitigate the problem, educate and raise awareness of our relationship with biodiversity and the impacts they have on wildlife and the utopian dream situation completely eliminate such incidents roads.
