The Department of Rural, Environment and Agricultural Development (READ) will host the 10th Extension and
Advisory Conference and Outreach Programme under the pillar, Improving image and Professionalism of extension.
The five day conference is to look at better ways to better utilize the Extension and Advisory services as a resource
to achieving amongst others, the Sector specific National Development Initiatives as envisaged in the Agricultural
Policy Action Plan (APAP), SIP 11, Medium -Term Strategic Framework(MTSF) and National Development Plan
(NDP).
In line with the Extension Recovery Plan (ERP),the conference would further seek to address the gaps identifiedin
Agricultural Extension and Advisory Services using the five pillars of ensuring accountability and visibility of
extension, improving image and professionalism, recruitment of personnel, provision of information and
communication technology (ICT) infrastructure as well as re-skilling and re-orientation.
The five day conference will include Outreach programme and Awards Ceremony.
