Prateeksha’ is an organization created by the Cancer survivors in Kozhikode, Kerala. This organisation took inception in 2003 at Calicut, Kerala
Membership
Cancer survivors,relatives of Cancer patients and those who are interested in the campaign against Cancer can enroll in this organization as members.
Aims
Psychological counseling to Cancer patients who are currently taking treatment to improve their self confidence
To alleviate the anxiety and fear of patients about Chemotherapy, Radiation and Surgery.
To give advice regarding cost of treatment and means to raise funds though “Prateeksha” does not offer any monetary contribution.
Activities
To organize classes on Chemotherapy for patients
To educate the patients about modern treatment options for Cancer
To associate with similar associations outside India.
To make available the rehabilitative prosthesis for those who have completed Surgery and Radiation.
Every year Prateeksha organizes an annual celebration for Cancer survivors around Onam, the National festival of Kerala. There will be seminars or discussions which are helpful to the patients followed by the Onam Saddhya keeping with the festive Onam spirit
