With its famous Arc de Triomphe and obelisk, it is the venue for great national events and the traditional military parade on the 14th of July. Unfortunately, the multiplying number of large car showrooms, cinemas and fast-food eateries has somewhat tarnished the Avenue's reputation.
The Louvre Museum is one of the largest and most important museums in the world. It is housed in the expansive Louvre Palace, situated in the 1st arrondissement, at the heart of Paris.
Although not the largest cathedral in the world, the Notre-Dame might be the most famous of all cathedrals. The gothic masterpiece is located on the Île de la Cité, a small island in the heart of the city.
