Oral Medicine & Radiology (OMDR) is one of the major subject in 4th year Prof & is considered as one of the most important subject of dentistry. It is divided into 2 parts namely:
Oral Medicine-Which deals with the diagnosis & management of Oral mucosal conditions/pathologies.
Radiology- This deals with the basic knowledge of Radiation Physics, Taking & interpreting the different types of radiographs namely IOPAR, OPG, CBCT, CT, MRI etc.
Though OMDR itself is a major subject but a major part of it is asked in Oral Pathology & Oral surgery as well e.g. Cyst, Tumors, Mucosal conditions etc.
So, basic knowledge of OMDR is highly important to answer theory paper as well as your viva. Even clinical scenario based question requires a good foundational knowledge of OMDR Especially to form Differential Diagnosis.
