The core functionality of MySafeZone app is the SMS emergency alert and notification system for seniors safety. MySafeZone relies on the SMS alert system to relay information about identified unsafe zones and potentially dangerous situations to caregivers and emergency contacts. These alert messages are the core functionality as they inform the caregivers about the patient’s safety. MySafeZone aims to serve as a notification app for those who could potentially encounter dangerous situations (due to memory loss or disorientation) and may require assistance. These notifications can be triggered through detection methods described below or through an emergency button.

MySafeZone is an app to aid everyone, but in specific those who suffer from poor memory or memory loss, particularly the elderly, by alerting caregivers or loved ones when a potentially dangerous situation is detected. This is done by providing a multitude of detection methods. Geofencing provides detection of the entrance of a preset “unsafe” zone upon detection of the exit of a safe zone help will be notified. Activity alerts are also provided which allow for call to help when an “unsafe” activity such as in car or on bike is detected as being done by the patient. A check on me alert is also available which allows for periodic checks on the user to insure that the patient is okay.
