Sheikh Maher Al Mueaqly (Arab: الشيخ ماهر بن حمد المعيقلي), (born 1967) is the imam of the Grand Mosque in the holy Islamic city of Mecca, Saudi Arabia. His full name is Sheikh Maher Bin Hamad Al-Mueaqly. Sheikh Maher's mother and father moved to the Prophet's Medina (SAW) and he was born there as well. He memorized the whole quran in Medina and he was taught in the class of many respected scientists all over the world in Medina.
ماهر المعيقلي started his Sheikh career in the Northern Kingdom of Saudia. He was taught extensively in mathematics until he began to teach him as well. At this point he stopped preaching and began working as a math teacher. He returned to Makkah to become a scholar and teach at a balaat school. In Makkah he became a famous speaker and began to preach once more. Having been loved by the people he chose to become adviser to Prince Abdul Majid in Makkah. The shaykh is married and has four children: two sons and two daughters. He began teaching Quran in Makkah before starting teaching at King Abdullah Saood University. He was promised before ramadan that he would lead tarawee prayers in Medina for 1426 and 1427, so he did so. After that he was transferred to Makkah and began to lead taraweeh since the first day of 1428 Ramadan at Al-Haram Mosque alongside Sheikh Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais.
He also led prayers at the grand mosque in Medina known as the an-Nabawi Mosque. He has led tarawee prayers in the year h1428 (2007), h1429 (2008) and h1430 (2009). He regularly leads Fajr and Maghrib prayers at Masjid al-Haram.
