Mobile PowerCam simply turns your (old) mobile phone into a web cam!
Mobile PowerCam offers the following features:
- a battery saving mobile webcam using scheduled app activity (app restart interval), i.e. Mobile PowerCam does not have to run all the time (on a Samsung Galaxy Win, Mobile PowerCam can take pictures for up to 12 h without external power)
- does not modify the taken pictures using additional power-consuming processes
- automatically restart after boot
- can be activated and deactivated using SMS commands: "start powercam" and "stop powercam"
- automatic screen and picture rotation depending on device orientation
- no complicated camera settings: only picture resolution, picture quality and app restart interval can be individually set
- works using mobile data connections (3G/GSM) and Wi-Fi
- pictures are taken in .jpg format and uploaded using HTTP protocol
Installation and usage:
- Download the demo server files from http://www.smallworldsecurity.de/mobilepowercam/serverfiles.zip and extract the archive to your PHP enabled server
- Enter the URL of the included upload.php file in the field "Server Address for Picture Upload", e.g. http://www.yourpictureserveraddress.com/upload.php
- If needed, modify the other Mobile PowerCam parameters
- Start the process of taking pictures by clicking the button "Take Pictures" (App restarts after taking pictures according to the set interval)
- Take a look at your pictures using any webbrowser at e.g. http://www.yourpictureserveraddress.com/mobilepowercam.html
Hints for optimal usage:
- set your phone's screen brightness to the lowest possible value
- set your screen timeout to the lowest possible value
- set Mobile PowerCam values for picture resolution and picture quality to low numbers for small picture sizes of only some kbytes
