Welcome to the Meditation on the Cross, the second app in the “Mediation on” series of meditations. This app provides an opportunity to reflect on the true meaning of Easter. It is appropriate for all ages from 3 -100. It provides a valuable learning experience to introduce both children and adults to the mystery of the Cross. People of all ages will reflect on the true meaning of the Crucifixion for the Lenten season, Holy Week, Good Friday and Easter.

Mediate on the meaning of the true cross as you interact with the artistic realism of the Baroque painter Bartolomeo Cesi (16 August 1556 - 11 July 1629) in his masterpiece, “The Crucifixion”. The Cesi masterpiece is displayed with multiple light sources added for enhancement. You interact with the screen by choosing the five wounds of Christ; the left hand, the right hand, the head, the side and the feet. As you click on each of the wounds, you will hear one of the final seven words of Christ on the cross. Once you have selected and meditated on the five wounds caused by the nails, the sword and Crown of Thorns, the final words of Christ will be unveiled.

The reflections include the beautiful, solemn music as sung by the Sisters of the Daughters of Mary, Roundtop, NY. Their harmonious voices provide true meaning to the solemn hymns of Lent, Holy week and Good Friday.

This app provides translations of the Seven Last Words of Christ into many languages including English, Spanish, Italian, French, German, Russian, Polish and others. The app requires a working internet connection for the translations. The English version does not require an internet connection. People of all ages from the United States, South America, Poland, Spain, Mexico, Bolivia, Peru, Argentina, Canada, Italy, Germany, Russia, France, Portugal Czechoslovakia and many of other nations can reflect during the season of Lent, Holy Week, Good Friday and Easter. It is appropriate for meditation throughout the entire year.

Reflect on the Passion of Christ and Crucifixion as the Seven Final Words of Christ are displayed. The music of Sisters of the Daughters of Mary provides the background for this reflection. Hymns include “O Sacred Head Surrounded” and “Tantum Ergo”. This reflection on the Passion of Christ and the wounds inflicted by the nails, the sword and the Crown of Thorns will provide perspective to the solemn time of Lent, Holy Week, Good Friday and Easter.
