WHY USE MDA AVAZ READER
EASY-TO-USE Th app is simple and straightforward to use. All features are easy to understand. The app and all its components are designed to enable your child to become a confident and independent reader with consistent use over time.
EASY TO CUSTOMIZE The app can be customized according to your child’s requirements. Voice Speed and Font Size can be increased or decreased as per needs. Multiple voice outputs and colors are available. You can also enable or disable different features as per the learning curve of your child.
INITIATES SIGHT READING The high-quality text to speech Auto-Read feature reads the text out loud as the child follows the text in the book. Choose from a variety of voice outputs and select a familiar voice. Text being read out is highlighted simultaneously. By initiating sight reading, this feature aids in overcoming reading difficulties by facilitating grapheme-phoneme conversion. This also stimulates orthographic mapping.
ENABLES FINGER-READING The Pencil icon on the app screen can be dragged with the help of a finger. It can be used to point to the current word of the text. With this, the child can track the words they are reading very effectively. While aiding hand-eye coordination, this feature also lowers convergence difficulties. A red underline is used to mark words already read to avoid rereading the same text. An indicator shows the next word to be read. The pointer can be easily repositioned by double-tapping the new word.
PROMOTES STRESS-FREE READING The Multiple Reader View helps take the anxiety out of reading a large piece of text by giving the user the option of taking up one part of the text at a time. There are three different reader views on the app - The Page View shows the entire page to the user. Sentence View shows only one sentence at a time. Word View shows just one word. The user can also tap on a word to enter word mode, double-tap on a sentence to enter sentence mode, drag their finger along the page image to see a moving highlight that automatically triggers finger-reading mode, pinch-zoom to zoom in on a particular part of the page or zoom out.
HINTS TO ENCOURAGE READING When the user finds it difficult to read a particular word, they can tap the Hint icon. This ensures that the child is not discouraged by a new or seemingly difficult word. Additionally, the use of Hints will also stimulate phonemic and conceptual understanding. A variety of Hints are available on app. These include - Rhyming words and images. Word Family hints. Hints for starting, middle and end blends.
BUILD COMPREHENSION SKILLS The Build feature helps in parsing the sentences in the text and focusing on the smaller syntactic units. When Building, the app shows the text one sentence at a time. Tapping the “Build More” button gradually builds up the sentence. This enables children to comprehend the text more effectively.
