Frustrated with the lack of a silent mode in Lollipop? Then this app is for you.
I have made this app based on reading a number of complaints on the internet, where people are not happy with the removal in Lollipop of the silent feature that existed in the previous versions of Android.
This app provides a simple widget for your home screen which will mute and un-mute your phone, so there is no need for you to mess around with the volume keys and select the interruptions mode that you want. Silent means silent - even priority calls or notifications will not be heard and along with some other complaints that I've seen on the internet, you should also be able to silence certain apps, such as Whatsapp, because of the way that my app controls the audio settings on the phone.
Put the widget on your home screen and press it to toggle between silent and non-silent modes. The widget shows green when not silent and red when silent. A notification can also be shown when the ringer is muted and can also be selected to un-mute the phone.
You can change a number of settings in the app to control the functionality of the widget as follows:
⋆ Select which audio functions to silence including Ringer, Notifications and System Sounds.
⋆ Select to turn off vibrate (if set) or not, when muting audio functions.
⋆ Select to display a notification to show that the phone has been muted.
⋆ Select to display on screen messages when the phone is muted and un-muted.
Notes
⋆ Ringer and Notification settings have the same effect, unless you have a custom rom where these have been made separately controllable.
⋆ Alarms sounds are not silenced, as during my research, it appeared that people wanted to silence calls and notifications, but still allow alarm sounds.
⋆ You must use the App to un-mute the phone - the volume keys or other apps will not work.
