La Liga Aguila, llamada asi por motivos comerciales, es el campeonato de primera división del fútbol profesional de Colombia, que es organizado por la División Mayor del Fútbol Colombiano (Dimayor), entidad dependiente de la Federación Colombiana de Fútbol.

Desde su profesionalismo en 1948 el certamen se ha disputado durante 68 años (incluyendo la Temporada suspendida en 1989) y se han otorgado 53 títulos en torneos largos y 27 en torneos cortos, para un total de 80 títulos oficiales, siendo los clubes Millonarios de Bogotá y Atlético Nacional de Medellín los equipos más ganadores de la primera división de Colombia con 14 títulos cada uno.

Según el ranking 2013 de la IFFHS la Categoría Primera A es la 9º liga profesional más fuerte del mundo. Mientras tanto, está ubicada como la 3º de Sudamérica en el siglo XXI, sólo detrás del Campeonato Brasileño de Serie A, y la Primera División de Argentina según la IFFHS.

The Aguila League, named for commercial reasons, is the first division championship of professional football in Colombia, which is organized by the Greater Division of Colombian Soccer (Dimayor), subsidiary of the Colombian Football Federation.

Since its professionalism in 1948 the tournament was played for 68 years (including the Season suspended in 1989) and have been granted 53 titles in 27 tournaments in long and short matches, for a total of 80 official titles, with the Millonarios Bogotá clubs and Atletico Nacional of Medellin winningest teams of the first division of Colombia with 14 titles each.

According to the 2013 ranking of the IFFHS A Category First is the 9th world's strongest professional league. Meanwhile, it is located as the 3rd century in South America, behind only the Brazilian Championship Serie A and the Primera Division Argentina according to the IFFHS.
