Nasce negli anni sessanta nel centro storico di Reggio Emilia in Piazza Antonio Fontanesi, allora
sede del mercato ortofrutticolo all'ingrosso, ed al quale forniva servizio continuativo di ristoro.
Anno dopo anno e con l'avvicendarsi di varie gestioni, il locale si trasforma in Ristorante
ospitando intere generazioni di Reggiani. Nel 1992 Rosy e Roby assumono il compito di portare
avanti la tradizione del locale proponendo piatti della cucina emiliana e rivisitazioni di ricette
tratte dal MedioEvo e Rinascimento.
2008 Anno del cambiamento, RoSy e RoBy alla fine del mese di giugno chiudono La Zucca in
Piazza Fontanesi e spostano l'attività nell'attuale sede aprendo le porte il 27 ottobre 2008. Ringraziando la costante presenza dei clienti di sempre e dei nuovi, si sta scrivendo un nuovo capitolo della storia della Zucca, mantenendo la tradizione e l'ospitalità di sempre. La sede attuale, situata alla porta est della città, in località Masone, ha una capienza di 50 persone max in ambiente climatizzato, e un portico per la stagione estiva di 20 persone.
