Kitab 'Aqidatul Awwam sesuai dengan namanya berarti 'aqidah untuk orang orang awwam.
Kitab ini merupakan salah satu kitab yang diperuntukkan
bagi umat Islam dalam mengenal ke-tauhid-an, khususnya tingkat permulaan (dasar).
Isi dari kitab ini tentang 'Aqoidul Iman 50 yaitu sifat-sifat wajib
beserta sifat mustahil bagi Allah, sifat wajib beserta mustahil bagi Rasul,
dan juga membahas tentang nama-nama Nabi dan Rasul, nama-nama Malaikat dan tugas-tugasnya.
Selain itu, didalamnya juga dibahas tentang pentingnya mengenal nama-nama keluarga
dan keturunan Nabi Muhammad SAW dan perjalanan hidup beliau dalam membawa ajaran Islam.
Terlebih bagi mereka yang baru pertama mengenal Islam. 'Aqidatul Awwam ditulis dalam bentuk
syair (nazham). Didalamnya terdapat sekitar 57 bait syair yang berisi pengetahuan
