Imam Abu Dawud (817 / 202 H - meninggal di Basrah; 888 / 16 Syawal 275 H; umur 70 - 71 tahun) adalah salah seorang perawi hadits, yang mengumpulkan sekitar 50.000 hadits lalu memilih dan menuliskan
4.800 di antaranya dalam kitab Sunan Abu Dawud. Nama lengkapnya adalah Abu Dawud Sulaiman bin Al-Asy'ats As-Sijistani. Untuk mengumpulkan hadits, dia bepergian ke Arab Saudi, Irak, Khurasan, Mesir,
Suriah, Nishapur, Marv, dan tempat-tempat lain, menjadikannya salah seorang ulama yang paling luas perjalanannya.
Imam Abu Dawud (817/202 H - died in Basra; 888/16 Shawwal 275 H; age 70-71 years) is one of the narrators, which collects about 50,000 hadith then select and
write 4,800 of them in the book of Sunan Abu Dawud. His full name is Abu Dawood Sulaiman bin Al-As-Sijistani Ash'ath. To collect the hadith, he traveled to Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Khurasan, Egypt, Syria,
Nishapur, Marv, and other places, making it one of the most knowledgeable scholars of his journey.
