In the ancient Greek manuscripts this book usually appears under the title of Ππάξειρ απΠζηόλων, or, Acts of Apostles; Some manuscripts add the article, Acts of the Apostles, and others simply put Acts.
In the Latin manuscripts it is called Actus Apostolorum, or also Acta Apostolorum. Titles of that kind were then very much in use in Hellenistic literature. Thus, we have the Ππάξειρ ΑλεξάνδπΠς, of Galνstenes; And the Ππάξειρ Αννίβα, from Sζsilo.
It was not in these books to present a biography or complete history of the person alluded (Alexander or Hannibal), but simply to pick up the most indicated acts; Is precisely what Luke also does about the characters he elects, the apostles.
