FaceApp is a new selfie app for iOS which uses artificial intelligence to transform faces. The app has a number of neural face transformation filters, which let users add a smile, change
gender, change age or become more attractive. Developed by Wireless Lab, the app provides stunning results in certain situations.
Founder and CEO of FaceApp, Yaroslav Goncharov, explains that FaceApp is different from the other filters apps like Pikazo and Prisma because those apps only change the style of the photo and not the content while FaceApp does the opposite. FaceApp uses deep generative convolution-neural networks to modify the content and preserve the style of an image to produce photo-realistic results. It is the impeccable quality of the transformed photos that Goncharov takes great pride in, something other competing apps have yet to deliver.
