Glass House or Johnson's House (English: Glass House or Johnson House) is an American architect Philip Johnson in 1949 at New Cannan city of the state of Connecticut is a famous piece of architecture which is predominantly glass facade, designed for himself.
For this project, both Philip Johnson and his deputy, Richard Foster, both effects are quite common in modern architectural design. Structure is mostly closed to the outside world. Located in a land surrounded by walls and owned by Philip Johnson Glass House is situated opposite a pond. The exterior of the glass house charcoal is made of steel and glass. The ground floor consists of a few cm tall brick outside. The interior is completely open spaces are separated from each other with cabinets made from walnut wood. Reaching within a single building materials are brick walls forming the ceiling of the bathroom space. Inspiration for the structure put forward by the German architect 1920 "will Glasarchite" that is glass architecture. Spread over 190,000 square meters, Johnson designed the Guest House for guests in addition to the glass house in the land (1949-1950), Pavilion (1962), Art Gallery (1965), Sculpture Gallery (1970), Study Room (1980), Ghost House (1982 ), Kirstein Tower (1985) and the gate house (Da Monsta, 1995) takes place. The picture gallery has a built underground passages reminiscent of Agamemnon cemetery. And thumbnail images are displayed on a carpet covered the three panel swivels. The ghost in the house is built by assembling a barbed-wire pair on the foundations of an old barn plants were planted.
The other three buildings on the land previously (Popestead, and call the Grainger Farms) were rebuilt by Philip Johnson.
