Friend is an artificial friend with whom you can share your problems and ask for comments. Friend is a modern version of an old program called Eliza.
The original Eliza application was created in 1966 by Joseph Weizenbaum at MIT as an illustration of artificial intelligence and computational linguistics. The present Friend app has benefited from the original and several other versions of Eliza published on the net. Compared with Eliza, the Friend has been expanded, modified and modernized to be able to discuss subjects relevant in the 2010's. The app also provides short explanation about how programs like Eliza and Friend work.
