Free NASB Holy Bible Audio & Book App While maintaining the accuracy of the ASV 1901, the NASB has tried to render grammar and terminology in modern English. Particular attention was given to the verbs to give the English reader a rendering as close as possible to the meaning of the original Greek and Hebrew texts. In 1995, the text of the NASB was updated for greater understanding and smoother reading. The New American Standard Bible on Bible Gateway matches the press 1995.

The new American Standard Bible update-1995
Easier to read:
Steps with Old English "thee" and "thou" etc have been updated to modern English.
Words and phrases that might be misunderstood due to changes in meaning over the last 20 years have been updated to current English.
Verses with difficult word order or vocabulary have been retranslated into English as smooth.
Sentences beginning with "and" often I have been back-translated to English better, in recognition of differences in style between the ancient and modern languages English. The original Greek and Hebrew had no punctuation as is found in English and in many cases modern English punctuation serves as a substitute for "and" in the original. In some other cases, "and" is translated by a different word such as "then" or "but" as required by the context, when the word in the original language allows such a translation.
More accurate than ever before:
Recent research on the oldest and best manuscripts of the Greek New Testament was revised, and some steps have been updated for even greater fidelity to the original manuscripts.
Parallel passages were compared and reviewed.
Verbs that have a wide range of meanings have been retranslated in some steps to better account for their use in the context.
And yet the NASB:
The updated NASB is not a translation change-for-the-sake-of-change. The original NASB withstands the test of time and changes were kept to a minimum in recognition of the standard that was set by the New American Standard Bible.
The updated NASB continues the tradition of NASB of literal translation of the original Greek and Hebrew without compromise. Changes to the text have been kept within strict parameters required by the fourfold purpose of the Lockman Foundation.
The translators and consultants who contributed to the updated NASB are conservative Bible scholars who have doctorates in biblical languages, theology, or other advanced degrees. They represent a variety of denominational backgrounds.
Continuing a tradition:
The original NASB has earned a reputation for being the most accurate English translation of the Bible. The updated NASB continues the tradition NASB to be a true translation of the Bible, revealing what the original manuscripts say actually. --not just what the translator thinks they mean.
