ForgetMeNot is an app which aims to aid communication between you and your loved ones living with Dementia through the use of reminiscence therapy.

The app was created due to our personal experience communicating with those living with Dementia.

The app features three main tools: photos, music and voice recordings which can be uploaded to the app and used as a focal point of conversation.
After downloading the app, users will be asked to Sign Up to make an account with ForgetMeNot. This will require the first name, last name and email of the main account holder. The main account holder will then be asked to make an account for the person living with Dementia. This will include a photograph, name, age and location as well as some personal
notes about them. Once this account is created, the user can begin to use the ForgetMeNot app. This main account holder will be provided with a family code which can be shared with loved ones and carers in order to allow them to log on to the same account. The main account holder will have control over who can log in to the account. The ForgetMeNot app requires the main account holder to authenticate each other user who enters the family code.

Once logged in to the app, the user can begin to navigate the home page. There are three features to the ForgetMeNot App.

Dealing firstly with photos, the user can upload photos from their camera roll or take pictures using their smartphone camera. These photos can be sorted into albums for ease of use. The user can create an album title such as ‘Wedding Day 1964’ and give a brief description of same. These albums can be used as a focal point of conversation and easily facilitates reminiscence
therapy practices with Dementia patients.

The Music feature allows users to create playlists via their Spotify account. They will be asked to sign in to Spotify at this point. The user can then create playlists of their loved ones favourite songs from the past. This can then be played to the person living with the illness.

The final feature is Voice Recordings. This feature allows family members and carers to record a message, read a chapter of a book or recite their loved ones' favourite poem. The Voice Recording feature requires the user to provide a voice recording title. The recording can then be
played to the person living with the illness.

Via the ‘About Section’, users can view the Account members.

The app provides an easy way for family members and carers to communicate with their loved ones living with Dementia through the medium of photos, music and voice recordings. There is evidence of the proven benefit that reminiscence therapy practice can have on a person with Dementia, increasing overall mood and slowing down cognitive decline.
