Although Florida Smart ID by Thales is an official credential offered by the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, it does not replace your Florida driver license. Florida law requires carrying the physical driver license when operating a motor vehicle.

How to Activate
Florida residents will need to enroll through the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles’ MyDMVPortal to receive an activation code. Floridians with a valid and REAL-ID compliant Florida driver license or ID card are eligible for a Florida Smart ID. Floridians can get their Florida Smart ID by following these steps:
1) Log in or create an account at MyDMVPortal.flhsmv.gov.
2) Enroll in Florida Smart ID though MyDMV Portal. (You will receive an email with an activation code).
3) Download the FL Smart ID app.
4) Activate your Florida Smart ID by scanning the QR code or entering the activation code provided within 24 hours of receiving it.
