Are you learning English?

When you learn some language it is necessary to develop different skills such as grammar, spelling, listening and speaking. But you also have to increase your vocabulary.

Cards are the best tool for learning new English words because learning a new word requires repeation. The application is an electronic version of learning words by cards.

Features:

1. Each card has a word, transcription and example. You can also select a translation into Russian or German, or use the cards without translation.

2. The cards can be viewed in three modes. If you use training mode (Training mode in the settings menu) all data are displayed at once, and in repeat modes (Repetition mode and Reversed mode) they are hidden. To see the hidden position, simply click on it. Clicking on the learning word will show all data.

3. Learned word can be removed from the list by clicking the Learned button. To see all words, including the learned ones, you should enable the Show learned words checkbox in the settings menu. Learned word can be returned to the learning list by clicking the Show again button.

4. If an English word is difficult to remember, it can be marked to appear more frequently by clicking the Show more button. To return the word to the normal mode, click the Show less button.

5. The cards can be browsed in two directions. The forward direction shows new words and the words marked for more frequent repetition. When all cards are viewed, a new cycle will begin. The backwards direction corresponds to the display history.

6. For the convenience of study, you can use sets of 20, 50 or 100 cards (the Cards in a set dropdown). To move between sets, use the Prev (previous set) and the Next (next set) buttons.

7. By default, the card order corresponds to the frequency order of words in the English language. This order can be changed by enabling the Shuffle cards checkbox in the settings menu. In this case, cards will be shuffled each time you select a new set.

8. You can add cards with your own words to the application. To do this, create a text file with the extension *.words (utf-8) including strings in the following format word|transcription|example|translation. The transcription and example are not essential, but the word and its translation are required. So strings may be in the format word|||translation. To import a file with your own cards, open it with the application.

9. It is also possible to add, edit and delete cards with your own words inside the application. For this after selecting a custom set My Words in the settings menu click appeared menu item Edit. To add a new card, fill in all necessary fields and click Add button. To edit the desired card, select a proper learning word from a list bellow. To delete it, click a bucket icon. The words in the list go in alphabetical order.
