El Libro de Enoc (o Libro de Henoc, abreviado 1 Enoc) es un libro intertestamentario, que forma parte del canon de la Biblia de la Iglesia ortodoxa etíope pero no es reconocido como canónico por las demás iglesias cristianas, a pesar de haber sido encontrado en algunos de los códices por la Septuaginta (Códice Vaticano y Papiros Chester Beatty). Los Beta Israel (judíos etíopes) lo incluyen en la Tanaj, a diferencia de los demás judíos actuales, que lo excluyen.

Las únicas versiones íntegras de este libro que se conservan están en ge'ez, lengua litúrgica de la Iglesia etíope,1​ pero son conocidas varias partes en griego, y un fragmento en latín.1​ También ha sido encontrado, en Antínoe, un fragmento en copto (93:3-8)2​ y, además en Qumrán fueron hallados múltiples fragmentos en arameo3​ y uno en hebreo (4Q317). La tradición atribuía su autoría a Enoc (transcrito también como Henoc o en inglés Enoch), bisabuelo de Noé. En la actualidad se cree que el texto fue redactado por varios autores judíos entre los siglos III a. C. y I.

Algunos autores consideran que el Libro de los Vigilantes fue, al menos en parte, redactado hacia el 400 a. C.,4​ pero la mayoría estima que las primeras secciones fueron compuestas en el siglo II antes de Cristo, a más tardar en 166 a.C..1​ Los autores podrían depender en parte del Pentateuco, y habrían ampliado las secciones de Génesis, Números y Deuteronomio. Por ejemplo, 1 Enoc 1:9 (la cita en la epístola de Casiodoro de Reina; Cipriano de Valera (1909). «Judas 1, 14-15 ». Biblia; traducción Reina-Valera (Wikisource).) podría ser originalmente un midrash de Deuteronomio 33:2.5​6​7​

The Book of Enoch (or Book of Enoch, abbreviated 1 Enoc) is a intertestamental book, which is part of the canon of the Bible of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church but is not recognized as canonical by other Christian churches, despite having been found in some of the codices of the Septuagint (Codex Vatican and Chester Beatty Papyri).
