D-Star é um novo modo de transmissão para comunicações em voz digital e dados. É uma forma eficiente e inovadora, criada por radioamadores para os radioamadores. Através de links via Internet ou mesmo microcoondas (1.2GHz), é possível interconectar repetidoras D-Star formando uma rede mudial de comunicação entre radioamadores.
O Sistema D-Star oferece recursos e funcionalidades inéditas que incrementam a eficiência de nossas comunicações. O nome D-Star vem de Digital Smart Technologies for Amateur Radio, que em português significa Tecnologias Digitais Inteligentes para o Radio Amador. D-Star is a standard that was published in 2001.
