Instructions
.Completely cover 1-1/2" ball with a thin, even layer of paperclay. With finger, make two slight indentations for the eyes and a "smile" indentation for the mouth. Cut a 4" length from dowel and insert into the bottom of the ball. Let dry.

.Paint ball parchment. Using the liner brush, paint eyes, nose, and mouth in black. Add mouth and eye detail with parchment. Apply one coat of varnish; let dry.

.Glue together the two, 5" discs. Repeat with the 8" and 10" discs.

.Trace around each cake "layer", including the 6" and 12" discs, on black cardstock. Cut out each circle - except for the 12" circle, with decorative scissors. Glue paper circles to top of each "layer".

.Measure and cut strips of black cardstock to wrap around each layer; glue strips around layers.

.Repeat Step 5, and using decorative edge scissors, cut white cardstock strips 1/4" narrower than the black strips.

.Punch bat shapes from white cardstock and adhere around the 10? disc. Punch bats from black cardstock and glue to 6" layer.

.Stamp damask design on white cardstock strips for 8" and 5" layers. Glue to layers.

.Using select font (model used Edwardian Script ITC), print "Happy Halloween" onto white cardstock. Trim greeting and adhere to the 5" layer. Insert one black brad at each side of greeting.

.Trace cone pattern onto white cardstock. Trace half of the cone pattern onto black cardstock. Cut on traced lines with decorative edge scissors. Glue the black half cone to the white cone covering. Let glue dry completely. Glue around cone.

.Trace around discs on white cardstock and cut out circles with decorative edge scissors. The paper circles should be slightly larger than the cake layers. Construct the cake by alternating cake layers and the white circles. Assemble and glue together.

.Insert pumpkin head into the top of cone; glue dowel in place.

.Insert several toothpicks into bottom of cone. Center cone over top layer and insert toothpicks into cake; glue together.

.Fold a 36" length of crepe paper in half lengthwise. Gather the strip with needle & thread. Pull gathers so it fits around the jack-o-lantern?s neck; knot and trim thread.

.Punch out and glue additional black and white bats down center of cone.
