The Cave That Speaks
Once upon a time there lived a lion in a jungle. One day he was roaming here and there in search of food but couldn’t find it. He became tired.
At last he found a cave. He was so tired that he thought to take some rest in the cave. Suddenly he got an idea.
He thought, “Some animal must be living in this cave. He must come at night to take rest and then I will kill him and get food for myself.
Then the lion entered into the cave and hid behind the wall of the cave. He started waiting for some animal to come.
One jackal came there after some time. He was the owner of that cave. As he was about to enter into the cave suddenly he stopped.
The jackal saw the footprints of the lion. The footprints were leading to his cave but were not coming back. The jackal became alert.
Now he wanted to know whether the lion was inside the cave or not. He didn’t want to be the dinner of the king, so he thought of a plan.
The jackal loudly spoke to the cave, “My dear cave! I am back home. Welcome me as usual otherwise I will go and find some other cave.”
The lion who was waiting for his prey inside the cave thought, “This cave certainly welcome its owner and today it is afraid of me that’s why it is not welcoming….
…so if I want to eat the jackal I should welcome the jackal on the cave’s behalf. Otherwise he will go away and I will remain empty stomach.”
Then the lion tried to change his voice and said on the cave’s behalf, “Welcome sir welcome! Now he started waiting for the jackal to enter into the cave so that he could jump upon him and ate him up.
When the clever jackal heard the voice he got confirmed that the lion was inside the cave so he ran away as quickly as he could.
Moral of the story is “Think before you do something otherwise you may have to repent afterwards.” The foolish lion did not think that a cave can’t speak and due to his foolishness he lost the opportunity to get food.
