L'application "Chemins de Bretagne" a pour but de faciliter le cheminement sur les itinéraires de randonnée décrits sur le site Internet "cheminsdebretagne.com".
Son principal intérêt est de vous indiquer rapidement où vous êtes par rapport à l'itinéraire que vous avez choisi. Votre position apparaît sur une carte ainsi que l'itinéraire choisi. L'application facilite également le repérage sur le terrain en fournissant la description sous forme de texte, de la quasi-totalité des croisements et des embranchements qu'on peut rencontrer sur les itinéraires.
Sur le terrain, l'application s'utilise très simplement, on lance l'application, on choisit un itinéraire, le zoom courant, et c'est tout. L'itinéraire à suivre s'affiche automatiquement sur une carte sous la forme d'un trait continu bleu. Des points bleus s'affichent sur la carte au fur et à mesure qu'on avance pour indiquer le chemin parcouru. On voit instantanément si on a suivi l'itinéraire choisi, ou si on a dévié. Quand on arrive à un croisement ou à un embranchement, si on veut obtenir des informations textuelles sur ce croisement (tourner à droite, continuer tout droit, ...), on appuie sur le bouton "Note". La distance entre l'endroit où l'on est et le croisement décrit
est également affichée. Une distance affichée inférieure à 30m (précision normale d'un GPS) signifie généralement que le croisement décrit correspond à la position où l'on est.
Les performances de l'application seront directement liées au performances du GPS du smartphone utilisé. On observe des variations importantes d'un modèle de smartphone à l'autre. Si le GPS du smartphone fournit des valeurs erronées, c'est-a-dire si l'erreur dépasse 30 ou 50 m, l'application risque également de fournir des informations fausses. Si le GPS du smartphone fonctionne mal ou cesse de fonctionner, l'application en fera autant. Sur certains smartphones, on observe une diminution importante de la précision au fond des vallées ou dans les bois.
L'application "Chemins de Bretagne" contient les cartes au 1/200 000 de la Bretagne et les cartes au 1/50000 au voisinage des itinéraires de randonnée enregistrés dans l'application. Pour disposer de la cartographie au 1/50000 de l'ensemble de la Bretagne, il faut utiliser l'application "Chemins de Bretagne +". Les cartes ont été produites à partir des données OpenStreetMap en utilisant le style OpenTopoMap.
En mode utilisation, l'application n'utilise que des cartes préchargées qui sont automatiquement sélectionnées en fonction de la position GPS courante. L'application n'utilise le réseau que pour précharger les cartes. Cette opération est effectuée en une fois. Toute la cartographie est stockée dans des fichiers embarqués.
L'application affiche des cartes de telle façon que le centre de la carte corresponde toujours à la position GPS courante, sauf si on a déplacé manuellement la carte en la faisant glisser, et dans ce dernier cas, le centrage automatique sur la position GPS se réactive automatiquement au bout de 30 secondes. Quand on se déplace, que ce soit à pied, à vélo ou en voiture, la carte se déplace et se centre automatiquement sur la position GPS courante. Un point bleu apparait sur la carte pour indiquer la position GPS courante. Les déplacements effectués sont visualisés par des points bleus de plus petite taille.
Fonctionne sur tablette et sur smartphone. Il faut 100Mo de libre sur la carte SD pour pouvoir télécharger la cartographie.
L'application a été testée sur Samsung Galaxy Tab3, Tab4, Y, J1. Il existe une multitude d'appareils Android et il se peut que l'application fonctionne mal, voire pas du tout, sur certains d'entre eux. Dans ce cas, merci de signaler le problème.

The application displays maps so that the center of the map always corresponds to the current GPS position, unless you have manually moved the map by dragging it, and in the latter case, the automatic centering on the GPS position reactivates automatically after 30 seconds. When it moves, whether on foot, bike or car, the map moves and automatically center on the current GPS position. A blue dot appears on the map to indicate the current GPS position. The trips are displayed as blue dots smaller.
Works on tablet and smartphone. We need 100MB of free SD card for downloading cartography.
