O azulão (Cyanocompsa brissonii) é uma ave passeriforme da família Fringillidae. Também é conhecida pelos nomes de azulão-bicudo, azulão-do-nordeste, azulão-do-sul, azulão-verdadeiro, guarundi-azul,
gurandi-azul, gurundi-azul e tiatã[2].
O azulão mede aproximadamente 15 cm de comprimento. O macho possui plumagem totalmente azul-escura quando adulto, com a fronte, sobrancelhas e coberteiras superiores das asas azuis-brilhantes. A fêmea e os imaturos são marrons-pardos.
Esta ave é territorialista, portanto não é possível vê-las em bando. Caso exista um casal em devida localização, só será possível encontrar outro casal a uma certa distância. Os filhotes de azulão ficam com seus pais até um certo tempo, depois partem para uma vida "independente", pois o instinto territorialista do azulão não o deixará ficar por perto após estar na fase adulta. Assim, o filhote terá que achar seu próprio território e sua parceria para acasalamento.
