O inhambu-chintã é uma ave tinamiforme da família Tinamidae.
Também conhecido como inhambi-chintão, inhambu-do-bico-vermelho e inhambu-de-canela-roxa.
O inhambu-chintã foi imortalizada na composição de Athos Campos e Serrinha,
nas vozes de Tonico e Tinoco. Dando inspiração e origem ao nome da dupla Chitãozinho e Xororó.

Nome Científico

Seu nome científico significa: do (grego) kruptus = escondido, oculto;
e oura = cauda; crypturellus = diminutivo de crypturus; e do (guaraní)
tatáupá = nome ameríndio para esta ave, seu significado aponta para casa ou casas e fazendas do país.

Características

Possui tamanho intermediário (21 centímetros de largura e 15 centímetros de altura),
entre o inhambú-chororó (o menor do gênero) e o inhambuguaçu. O macho é um pouco menor que a fêmea.
O colorido do dorso é bruno castanho, cabeça e pescoço são cinza escuro,
garganta e o meio da barriga cinza-azulado; o resto do lado inferior cinzento,
os lados da barriga e coberteiras inferiores da cauda pretas com orlas esbranquiçadas.

Hábitos

É um tinamídeo relativamente comum em grande parte do Brasil e que apresenta
boa resistência às alterações antrópicas. Habita capoeirões, espigões de mata secundária,
plantações degradadas em áreas de mata nativa primitiva e plantações
(milho, café, algodão, entre outras). Em canaviais e áreas de Eucalyptus, pode ocorrer,
em havendo capoeiras nativas nas proximidades, ou sub-bosque.

Distribuição Geográfica

Esta espécie ocorre desde o NE brasileiro até a Argentina, onde é chamada perdiz del monte,
perdiz del hogar.
