1. How is Camarada different from Google Cardboard Camera, Fyuse, Phogy, Seene, and several dozen other "3D Camera" apps?
Fyuse, Phogy, Seene and similar 360 camera apps capture multiple photos/frames, then stitch them together to form panoramic/360 2D photos. The "3D Camera" apps capture two frames to produce anaglyphsof static/inanimate objects. Google Cardboard Camera captures 3D panoramic photos. It is only good for static/inanimate objects as well, not dynamic scenes (use it when someone is moving in thescene, and you will know what we mean). In contrast, Camarada is a true VR camcorder and 3D camera that's "Cardboard Camera on steroids" and capable of recording 3D, HD (1080p) movies which give youa far more immersive experience than any of them can.
2. Why is Dual-Phone mode needed to capture a 3D movie? I thought some "3D camera" apps can do this with one device?
You need two cameras capturing at the exact same time and from slightly different angles to have true, stereoscopic 3D videos. There is no way around this - it's physics and it's how our eyes work.Any "3D camera" app that claims to capture "3D" using one phone, is making some tradeoff - either it's for inanimate objects only, or it's not stereoscopic 3D at all.
3. Do I need phones of the same kind/model?
No, you don't. You can use any combination of Android devices to create amazing VR videos. Camarada does the hard work and adjusts for the differences. If you happen to have identical phones, however, the software can detect and take advantage of this, and in some cases render higher quality 3D movies.
4. Can Camarada capture 3D photos?
Absolutely! It is a REAL 3D HD camera and camcorder, not one that can only take 3D pictures of a table, a chair, a vase... you get the idea :)
5. Why did you develop this VR camera app?
Many experts in the industry see virtual reality mainly as an exciting new platform for immersive games or VR porn. While we agree VR gaming (and VR porn;) are important, we believe the most powerfulapplication of VR is preserving and reliving our true memories, and sharing them with our loved ones.
