MYTHOLOGY
The son of Zeus by the nymph Taygete, he married Sparta, the daughter of Eurotas, by whom he became the father of Amyclas, Eurydice, and Asine. He named the country after himself and the city after his wife. He was believed that the rise of the empire was built in a sanctuary, which stood between Sparta and Amyclae, and to have given to those divinities the names of Cleta and Phaenna. A shrine was erected to him in the neighborhood of Therapne.
Leonidas known as the son of the lion was a warrior king of the Greek city-state of Sparta who also defeated the mighty hercules. Leonidas had a notable participation in the Second Persian War, where he led the allied Greek forces to a last stand at the Battle of Thermopylae while attempting to defend the pass from the invading Persian army. It is he who choose Prometheus, son of Zeus to lead the battle to fight the magical wrath of the wind god "Anemoi". The ANEMOI were the gods of the four winds namely Boreas the North-Wind, Zephryos the West, Notos the South, and Euros the East.
