This app enables the user to scan for active Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) Beacons (iBeacons and AltBeacons * and now Eddystone beacons * are currently supported) and saves the details of any beacons discovered to a text file, for subsequent analysis.

Collecting beacon details in this way can be useful during development of location aware apps, or for examining a public space for beacon coverage,

The user can specify which iBeacon and/or AltBeacon properties they would like to log via the app's Settings screen. Only the selected properties will be logged the next time the user starts scanning.

The application does not collect usage information or transfer any data from the device on which it is resident. Requires Android 4.3 (the last release of Jelly Bean) or above.

Source code for the app is available on GitHub: https://github.com/justinodwyer/iBeaconPoC

This app uses the Open Source Radius Networks SDK: http://developer.radiusnetworks.com/ibeacon/android/download.html

The application is supplied "as is" and free of charge, no warranty is offered or should be implied.

Due to limitations within the Android Bluetooth (Bluedroid) stack, this app is not currently compatible with Gimbal (TM) beacons. Avoidance of Gimbal (TM) beacons is advised when running this application.

iBeacon is a trademark of Apple Inc
AltBeacon is an open source BLE based specification for proximity beacon interoperability, devised by Radius Networks.

Happy scanning. :)
