Basement Window View

Basement windows are the opening of a wall in order for light to pass through in a basement. Basement is the portion of a house or building that is partly or completely underground. These basements are spaces below the house that are utilized to be garages, storage rooms, bedrooms, and even living rooms. There are basements that do not need windows on it since there are some that are totally below the ground. For those that are partly underground, windows are needed for reasons. For every particular type of basement, there is an appropriate specification of window required. There are several purposes why people prefer to have basements.

Cellars are also type of basements. In some states in America, people crowd to the cellars when tornado passes by and devastate their towns. Therefore, basements in that particular part of the world are used for shelters in case of a calamity. Through the rest of the days, this part of the house would serve as a bedroom, storage rooms for tools and many other materials, and even living room for the respective occupants of the house.

For this type of basement, it would not accurately protect the refugees inside during the catastrophe if it has a full size window. With what this basement is intended for, a window with a smaller size is recommended just for enough air for ventilation not for illuminating purposes. However, in the other parts of the world, where weather conditions are friendly, cellars are for storage of food, and particularly wine. These cellars only need enough light also and windows are for ventilation only. In storing food and wine, cellars maintain are ideal to maintain lower temperatures.

Full size windows are advisable for a daylight basement. Of course, the geographical situation of the area is to be considered in having this kind of basement. The name of the basement itself suggests that the place is intended to require much light. Look out basements are built on flat grounds. So, the windows are normally above the ground just sufficient for the occupants to view the events outside. Walk-up basements have their own doors aside from the rest of the doors of the house. With own doors of their own, these basements require only a small sized window. The crawl space basement, literally represents that it does not have enough space. It is intended only for pipes, wires, and other sorts for the amenities of the house.

In some places the law requires windows in all basements as a safety requirement. Whenever the authorities scan the house plan, it is a requirement to provide adequate space for occupants to pass through in case of an emergency. One of this exits are the windows of all occupied areas of the house including basements.
