******************** THE ORIGIN & HISTORY ********************

Baroque music is a form of Western art music produced roughly between 1600 and 1750. This period followed the Renaissance era which in turn was succeeded by the Classical era. The word "baroque" comes from the Portuguese barroco (which means “misshapen pearl”). This term became a negative description of the heavily ornamented music heard during this period.

The Baroque era is split into three critical phases: the early, middle, and late phase. These phases overlap in terms of time, but they are conventionally dated from the periods of 1580 to 1630, from 1630 to 1680, and finally from 1680 to 1730.
