Caudal vers les pieds (inférieur) (historiquement la nomenclature anatomique servait à décrire l'anatomie des animaux à quatre pattes, donc ce qualificatif désignait la direction de la queue (par opposition au museau ou au bec (= rostral) ; chez l'Homme, le coccyx constitue le vestige de cet appendice et est donc la référence pour le terme "caudal" ; on ne pourra donc pas appliquer cet adjectif aux éléments du membre pelvien (et par extension du membre thoracique) pour lesquels on préfèrera "distal" et "proximal")

Caudal to the feet (lower) (historically the anatomical nomenclature used to describe the anatomy of four-legged animals, so this term meant the direction of the tail (as opposed to snout or beak (= rostral) in humans the coccyx is the remnant of this Appendix and is the reference to the term "tail"; we therefore need not apply this adjective to the elements of the pelvic member (and by extension of the forelimb) for which we prefer "distal" and "proximal")
