There are five headings on the app under which information is provided. The first of which is “Smart ingredient substitutes”. This contains a list of possible substitutes that can be used in baking, along with this there are various pictures provided of the ingredients listed. All substitutes listed have a lower calorific content than the original recipe, and the majority have health benefits too, such as butter substituted to avocado or banana. Not alone can this be used to reduce the calorific content but to substitute ingredients when the consumer has allergies.

Secondly is, “Smart meals”. Children are notoriously picky eaters when it comes to meal times, so the application provides some suggestions. Children are known to “eat with their eyes” so the smart meals suggest that the visual appearance should be focused on, such as fun shaped pasta. This encourages children to eat healthily in a fun manner.

Thirdly is, “Smart snacks” similar to smart meals it pays great attention to the visuals. Children are less likely to eat dull boring food in comparison to bright fun food. Eating snacks should be quick and easy but often children disagree. Smart snacks suggest plying games to encourage healthy eating.

Next is, “Fun exercises”. With modern technology children often ply on gadgets rather than play outside, which reduces their fitness and exercise. In the application there is a variety of fun and new activities listed that children are excited to play and in parallel increasing fitness levels.

Last is “Tracking your progress”. Here it is suggested that children can see how well they are doing with a simple technique, a star chart. Once the child has achieved something good, example: eat all their vegetables or exercised for one hour they will earn a star. Once the child has reached a certain number of star the will be rewarded with a surprise such as a toy. This will encourage children to have a healthier lifestyle.

To conclude this application is full of smart ideas to reduce obesity among young children and reduce their calorific intake. This app is a wonderful idea for parents and children around the world.
