《尚書》又稱《書》、《書經》，為一部多體裁文獻匯編，是中國現存最早的史書。分為《虞書》、《夏書》、《商書》、《周書》。戰國時期總稱《書》，漢代改稱《尚書》，即“上古之書”。因是儒家五經之一，又稱《書經》。現存版本中真偽參半。一般認為《今文尚書》中《周書》的《牧誓》到《呂刑》十六篇是襠周真實史料，《文侯之命》、《費誓》和《秦誓》為春秋史料，所蠰內容較早的《堯典》、《皋陶謨》、《禹貢》反而是戰國編寫的古史資料。今本《古文尚書》總體認為是晉代梅賾偽造，但也存在爭議。
