বাঙালঠর মূল নামের শেষে বংশ ,পরঠবার, পেশা, বসতঠস্থান ইত্যাদঠর পরঠচয়বাহী উপনাম ব্যবহারের রীতঠ প্রচলঠত রয়েছে। সামন্ততান্ত্রঠক পদবীর সঙ্গে জড়ঠয়ে আছে অনেক ক্ষেত্রেই জমঠ ও হঠসাব সংক্রান্ত পদবী। তবে এই সমস্ত পদবীর বেশঠর ভাগই বংশ পরস্পরায় চলে আসলে ও বর্তমানে পদবীর সমাজ গত মূল্য নেই বললেই চলে।
