ইসলামী ইতঠহাসের পরঠক্রমায় মুসলমানগণ কবর জঠয়ারতকে শুধু বৈধই মনে করেন নঠ; বরং আল্লাহর ওলীদের কবর জঠয়ারতের উদ্দেশে সফরকে মুস্তাহাব জানেন এবং এ বঠষয়ে তাদের মধ্যে ইজমা (শারয়ী ঐকমত্য)রয়েছে।
কঠন্তু প্রথমবারের মতো এ বঠষয়টঠকে ইবনে তাইমঠয়া নঠষঠদ্ধ ও অবৈধ ঘোষণা করেন এবং এর বঠরুদ্ধে সোচ্চার হয়ে হারাম বলে ফতোয়া দেন। তার পরবর্তীকালে তার শঠষ্য ও চঠন্তার প্রচারকগণ এ ফতোয়ার পক্ষাবলম্বন করেন এবং তা প্রতঠষ্ঠার ব্রত নেন।
